Beloved Shawmut Line Author Passes

It was a sad day on November 25th, 2015 when we learned that Paul V. Pietrzak of Hamburg, NY passed away at the age of 80.  (The spelling of his name on his books is Pietrak).  He was the author of several books including the book we all consider our bible for the Pittsburg, Shawmut & Northern Railroad Historical Society.  Paul was a prolific writer, having produced five books covering the Western New York and North Central Pennsylvania region.  Through his books, he touched many of us in both personal and profound ways.

PIETRZAK—Paul V. of Hamburg, entered into rest September 25, 2015, beloved husband of the late Mary C. (nee O'Neill) and companion of Mary Anne Neary; devoted father of Jean (Tom) Krencik, Vincent (Jeanne) Pietrzak, Ann (Kevin) Redanz and Thomas (Wendy) Pietrzak; cherished grandfather of Joseph, Scott, Ryan, Claire, Anna, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Katherine and Emma; adored great-grandfather of Jaylin and Colton; dear brother of Carl (Marcia) Pietrzak and Peter (Marilyn) Pietrzak; also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Roswell Park or Hospice Buffalo.  Online condolences may be made at the Lombardo Funeral Home.

Sept. 21, 2025 Annual Shawmut Days in St. Marys, PA at the Bucksgahuda & Western Railroad. Find the railroad by traveling south on route 255 from downtown St. Marys. The street is Gillen Crossing Road with a very tall and easy to miss sign. Departed
