A Message from the President

On April 24, I was elected president of the Pittsburg, Shawmut & Northern Railroad Historical Society, during its annual meeting in Angelica, New York.

I wish to thank all of the members present who gave such a vote of confidence in me.  I have no plans on making any changes in the society.  I plan to focus on membership, the Cannonball, the museum and our Internet presence.  I would like to tip my hat to Harvey Lacy who has held the position since Billy Reddy died.  Those were awfully big shoes to fill and I thank Harvey for having done so.

The remaining slate of officers and directors were re-elected.  They are a great bunch of people and I look forward to working with them over the next two years.  Below are some photos of the annual meeting.

Prior to the meeting, director Bob Sanders and treasurer John Muchler made a list of items that needed to be repaired on our rolling stock and station.  There are a total of 17 items that needed to be addressed.  The top priority is to finish the roof of the tender, repair the siding of the cab of Engine No. 88, replace the missing handrail folks use to get into the cab, and improve the lighting in both Coach 278 and Car No. 99.  Bob Sanders was concerned that the ties were deteriorating and the cars could become unstable.  He wanted to discuss this at the meeting.
